What is Surrealism?
Google defines Surrealism is defined as "an art movement which sought to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind". This means that artists would create based on what they saw in dreams or if they were using drugs to induce strange visions.
How did Surrealism start?
The movement started after world war one, it was first used in poetry and writing. Andre Breton wrote the Surrealist Manifesto to describe how he aimed to combine the conscious and unconscious mind into the new "Absolute Reality". Surrealism was first used to describe work that was a fusion of fantasy and the modern world.
